How soft washing differs
A pressure washer removes what is on a surface by force. Soft washing removes it chemically and rinses gently. On the exterior of a house, the second one is almost always the right answer.
Identify the surface
Hardie, vinyl, stucco, brick, natural stone and painted wood all want different handling. This is the step that decides everything after it.
Protect the planting
Beds and shrubs against the wall get wetted down and covered before anything is applied.
Apply and dwell
The solution does the work. It is left to break down the mildew and algae rather than being forced off with pressure.
Rinse low and clean
A low-pressure rinse from top to bottom, and the landscaping gets rinsed again afterwards.
Why not just use a pressure washer
High pressure drives water up behind siding where it cannot dry. It takes the finish off stucco, strips paint from wood, cracks vinyl outright, and erodes the mortar on older brick.
It is also a worse clean. Pressure knocks the growth off but leaves the roots, so it comes back faster. Treating it properly is what buys the longer gap before the next wash.
What it removes
Mildew, algae, the black and green growth on north-facing walls, cobwebs, pollen and road dust. It will not fix failed paint or chalking — though it does show you clearly where those are.
How often
Most homes here want it every one to two years. Heavy shade and anything near sprinkler overspray will be at the shorter end.

Common questions
Is the solution safe around plants?
Handled correctly, yes. Beds get saturated before and rinsed after, which is what stops the solution from concentrating on the roots. Skipping that step is how landscaping gets damaged.
Will it hurt my paint?
Sound paint, no. Paint that is already failing may come off with the dirt — not because of the wash, but because it had already let go. We will flag it if we see it beforehand.
Do you do the roof at the same time?
Roofs are soft washed too, but it is a separate service with its own approach. Plenty of people book them together.
How long does a house take?
Most single-story homes are a half day. Two-story with heavy growth can run longer.
